Tim Akkouh Joins Essex Court Chambers

1 July, 2019

Members of Chambers are delighted to welcome Tim Akkouh as a new tenant.

Called in 2004, Tim is a leading junior with substantial experience of civil fraud, commercial chancery and heavyweight commercial litigation.  His reported cases include JSC BTA Bank v Ablyazov, Pinchuk v Bogolyubov, Mezhprom v Pugachev and Republic of Djibouti v Boreh.

Tim is described by Chambers & Partners as “Absolutely first-rate…..the perfect junior – he’s completely unflappable, furiously hard-working, he knows the law inside-out.”  He has appeared in the Court of Appeal on over a dozen occasions and twice in the Supreme Court. Fourteen of Tim’s cases have been reported in the WLRs.

Head of Chambers David Foxton QC said “I am very pleased to welcome Tim as a member of Essex Court Chambers. He is rightly recognised as a star of the commercial and commercial/chancery bars. Tim adds further strength and depth to an already outstanding cohort of senior juniors”.

Tim won the Chambers & Partners chancery junior of the year award in 2015 and was a nominee for The Legal 500’s commercial junior of the year award in 2018.

On his move to Essex Court, Tim said: “I am delighted to be joining Essex Court. Chambers’ pedigree in civil fraud, commercial chancery and commercial matters makes it the perfect place to develop my practice.”

Joe Ferrigno, Senior Clerk, added, “Acquiring Tim as a tenant is a great accolade for Chambers and testimony to our growing strength in the chancery commercial and civil fraud space. He adds further depth to our commercial litigation profile, which has already been enhanced by a number of high profile cross-recruits.”
