Avonwick Trial in Commercial Court

The Commercial Court in London begins hearing the trial of Avonwick Holdings Ltd v. Azitio Holdings Ltd, Dargamo Holdings Ltd, Sergiy Taruta and Others today. This is one of four major trials this year involving members of Essex Court Chambers as featured in The Lawyer’s Top 20 Cases of 2019.

The dispute between three prominent Ukrainian businessmen and their respective corporate vehicles concerns one of Ukraine’s largest industrial corporations, Industrial Union of Donbass, and other businesses. The various claims and cross claims involve allegations of misrepresentation, deceit and conspiracy and are said to be worth in excess of US$1 billion. The trial is set down for eight weeks before Mr Justice Picken.
