Stephen Houseman QC Appointed Deputy High Court Judge

11 November, 2019

Stephen Houseman QC has been appointed a Deputy High Court Judge with effect from Monday 11 November 2019. He was appointed by the Lord Chief Justice, The Right Honourable Lord Burnett of Maldon, pursuant to section 9(4) of the Senior Courts Act 1981, for a term of four years. He will sit in both the Queen’s Bench Division and Chancery Division.

Stephen’s practice covers a diverse range of international commercial and chancery/commercial disputes. The most recent legal directories give emphasis to his role in the courtroom: “An exceptional advocate – he makes a debate with the Court of Appeal over difficult and complex points of law look like a chat about the weather” (Legal 500, Commercial Litigation); “User-friendly and relaxed, he really rolls with the punches and keeps his cool” (Chambers Bar UK, Commercial Dispute Resolution).
