Sir Franklin Berman KC appointed Honorary Fellow of the Lauterpacht Centre for International, University of Cambridge

Sir Franklin Berman KC has been appointed an Honorary Fellow of the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law, University of Cambridge. The Centre appoints honorary fellows “in recognition of their significant contribution to the study and practice of international law and to the development of the Centre”.

Sir Frank Berman joined HM Diplomatic Service in 1965 and was the Legal Adviser to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office from 1991-99. For the past 23 years he has been in practice in Essex Court Chambers specializing in international arbitration and advisory work in international law. He has sat twice as Judge ad hoc on the International Court of Justice, and is a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration. He chaired throughout its work the Claims Committee of the Austrian General Settlement Fund for the Compensation of Victims of Nazi Persecution.
