Mooting

A moot is an argument on points of law that aims to simulate, as far as possible, an authentic court hearing before a judge. The successful mooting team is the one who presents their case, whatever its merits, the most ably and persuasively.

Mooting is an excellent way of developing and demonstrating advocacy and legal reasoning skills. It is for this reason that the members of Essex Court Chambers are proud to support two prestigious mooting competitions:

In addition to supporting these competitions, and as part of their commitment to legal education and training, members of Essex Court Chambers regularly run mooting and advocacy workshops at universities. An advocacy workshop also forms part of the Essex Court Chambers Student Open Day.
