Lucas Bastin joins Essex Court Chambers from Quadrant Chambers

21 October, 2016

Lucas Bastin is moving from Quadrant Chambers to join Essex Court Chambers as a tenant.

Lucas specialises in investment treaty arbitration, international commercial arbitration and public international law. Prior to transferring to the Bar in 2013, Lucas practised for several years in a leading international arbitration and public international law group at Latham & Watkins LLP.

Recognised as a leading junior in the current editions of both Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500, Lucas has been described as “an excellent communicator with a deep understanding of investment protection issues” and “one of the rising stars of the junior public international law Bar.”

Graham Dunning QC, co-Head of Essex Court Chambers, said:

“We are very pleased that Lucas has decided to accept the offer to join chambers. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge of investment arbitration. He has developed a strong junior practice in this field which fits very well with the practices of those in chambers who work in public international law, investment disputes and international arbitration more generally. Like other members of chambers, I have enjoyed working with him in the past and look forward to doing so in the future.”

Lucas said, “I am delighted to be joining Essex Court Chambers, and look forward to being a part of its general excellence and in particular its pre-eminent standing in the areas in which I practise, including investment treaty arbitration, public international law and commercial arbitration.  I have been very fortunate in the support I have received from my previous Chambers and law firm throughout my career, and I look forward to this exciting new step at Essex Court Chambers.”
