Gordon Pollock QC

15 April, 2019

The members of Essex Court Chambers are very sad to learn of the untimely passing of Gordon Pollock QC, who died on 11 April 2019. Gordon’s contribution to Essex Court Chambers was immense. He was one of the leading advocates of our times, with an astonishing breadth of practice. It was under his guidance as Head of Chambers that we developed into a full-service commercial set, and made the move from the Middle Temple to Lincoln’s Inn Fields. Gordon’s career included 32 appearances in the House of Lords and Supreme Court, and numerous high profile trials. He was the most talked about and sought-after advocate, offering an irrepressible combination of oratorical and analytical skills of the highest order, great personal courage and a superb sense of humour. We offer our sincere condolences to his wife Karen and to his children, Rufus and Cressida.

The Honourable Mr Justice Jacobs has written a tribute to Gordon Pollock, which can be read here.
