Essex Court Chambers and its members have been highlighted in a recent report published by The Lawyer.
The report, published in March 2022 and entitled “The Commercial Court: This is where the relationships lie” draws on data from The Lawyer’s Litigation Tracker, ranking sets and firms according to the number of concluded judgments, case days and instructed individuals in the Commercial Court from 2015–2021.
Essex Court Chambers tops the chart by a significant margin, with members appearing in a combined total of 330 concluded judgments during the 7 year period and is one of only two Sets to break the 1,000-case-day barrier logging a total of 1,211 case days. The report goes on to explain that “Among the sets most frequently involved in Commercial Court disputes, Essex Court Chambers stands out on both the number of judgments on which its barristers have appeared and the number of case days those barristers have worked,” and concludes that “What can be learned from this is that the top sets in the Commercial Court really run the roost and receive instructions and mandates at a number far higher than many others.”
