Ciaran Keller and James Sheehan join from Maitland Chambers

21 October, 2016

Ciaran Keller and James Sheehan are joining Essex Court Chambers.

Ciaran and James have each built a strong reputation during their careers to date at Maitland Chambers. Their arrival will further strengthen the chancery/commercial, banking, finance and civil fraud expertise amongst the juniors at Essex Court Chambers.

Ciaran Keller (2004 Call) is recognised in the legal directories as a leading junior in commercial/chancery litigation. His practice includes business agreements and contractual disputes of all kinds, banking and financial services related litigation, civil fraud, company, partnership and insolvency matters, property litigation, energy and minerals, fiduciaries and professional negligence. He has also acted in a number of claims for and against sovereign states (“the foremost junior on questions of sovereign immunity at the Bar”: Legal 500).

James Sheehan (2008 Call) has already built an established reputation in a wide range of commercial/chancery disputes. He is recommended by Chambers UK in the fields of Commercial Chancery and Civil Fraud, described as, “A great lawyer with a fine intellect, who is very hard-working.” Much of his practice focuses on large-scale commercial litigation, often with a significant international element, involving conflicts of law and foreign law systems as well as issues of jurisdiction.

Richard Jacobs QC, co-Head of Essex Court Chambers, said: “We are delighted to welcome Ciaran and James as new tenants. They have previously worked with a number of members of chambers on major litigation and it is clear that they are outstanding barristers who will add to our existing strength in chancery/commercial work.”
