Essex Court Chambers is pleased to announce the appointment of Geraldine Andrews, Q.C., to be a Justice of the High Court. The appointment is with effect from 1 October 2013. The Lord Chief Justice will assign Geraldine Andrews to the Queen’s Bench Division. She will be sworn in by the Lord Chief Justice at 9.30am on Monday 7 October 2013.
Geraldine Andrews was called to the Bar by Gray’s Inn in 1981 and became a member of Essex Court Chambers on completion of pupillage in 1983. She took Silk in 2001 and was appointed a Recorder on the Midland Circuit in the same year. She was approved to sit as a deputy High Court Judge in 2005 and since then has sat regularly in that capacity in the Queen’s Bench and Chancery Divisions of the High Court, and in the TCC and Mercantile Court in London and Birmingham. Since 2010 she has also been sitting as a Deputy High Court Judge in the Administrative Court.
