Daniel Oudkerk QC, employment specialist, moves to Essex Court Chambers

24 July, 2013

The members of Essex Court Chambers welcome a significant cross-recruit with barrister Daniel Oudkerk QC moving from 11KBW.

The respected Silk is best known for his employment and commercial law work, with a particular emphasis on commercial disputes with an employment ‘twist’. Since taking silk in 2010 he has been instructed in many of the leading commercial employment claims. He acted for the successful claimants in the landmark conspiracy and team poaching litigation Tullett Prebon v BGC and for the Swiss IDB ContiCap in ContiCap v GFI in its Unfair Competition Act claim. He is regularly instructed by investment banks, Lloyd’s brokers, hedge funds, insurers and IDBs as well as private individuals and public bodies (from governments to regulators).

Senior Clerk David Grief welcomes Daniel Oudkerk to Essex Court Chambers:

“Employment litigation is becoming increasingly complex and like Daniel, many of our Members have seen a shift to a wider application of employment dispute resolution into mainstream commercial disputes and litigation. Daniel and his employment and commercial law practice will be a superb fit and a perceivable asset for Essex Court Chambers, its members and its collective reputation.”

Daniel Oudkerk is recognised by both Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 as a leading Silk for Employment. The current edition of Chambers & Partners describes him as a “really authoritative and punchy silk” who “gives commercial and straight-to-the-point advice” and “despite being aggressive in his mentality manages to combine it with very good people skills.” Legal 500 highlights that he is “very client friendly“.

Daniel Oudkerk is a member of ELA, ELBA and COMBAR, and joins Essex Court Chambers with immediate effect.
