Awards double for David Joseph QC and Essex Court Chambers

At last night’s Chambers Bar Awards ceremony, for the ninth year running, Essex Court Chambers and its members went home with the International Arbitration Set of the Year Award; David Joseph QC was awarded Arbitration Silk of the Year.

In the same week, The Legal 500 announced the winners of its awards which were only launched this year. Essex Court Chambers was awarded Chambers of the year: International arbitration and David Joseph QC was named Silk of the year: International arbitration

For the Chambers Bar Awards, Essex Court Chambers and its members had also been nominated and short listed for a further four awards across three categories:

  • Banking: Junior of the Year – Edmund King
  • Insurance: Junior of the Year – David Scorey
  • International Arbitration: Silk of the Year: Vernon Flynn QC
  • International Arbitration: Junior of the Year: Salim Moollan

For The Legal 500 Awards, Essex Court Chambers nominated for a further two categories:

  • Commercial litigation
  • Tax

In addition, five further Silks had been shortlisted:

  • Graham Dunning QC – Silk of the year: Commercial litigation
  • Andrew Hochhauser QC – Silk of the year: Employment
  • David Mildon QC – Silk of the year: Projects and energy
  • Vernon Flynn QC – Silk of the year: International arbitration
  • Toby Landau QC – Silk of the year: International arbitration

For both sets of awards, the shortlist was identified on the basis of the research conducted for the next edition of Chambers UK and The Legal 500.
