3 October, 2006

Essex Court Chambers won five awards at last night’s Chambers Bar Awards held at the Grosvenor House Hotel and run by Chambers and Partners, the specialist legal publishers and recruiters. For the second year running Essex Court Chambers and its members went home with all three of the International Arbitration category’s awards: Set, Silk and Junior. Joe Smouha picked up the Silk award with last year’s winner Johnny Veeder once again a nominee. In the Juniors’ section, both Toby Landau, last year’s winner and Sam Wordsworth were again nominated but this year it was Sam Wordsworth’s turn to be awarded the Junior accolade. Essex Court Chambers and its members were also nominated under the categories of Commercial Litigation, Employment and Tax. Under Commercial Litigation, one of last year’s nominees Paul Stanley received the Junior award and Roderick Cordara was named Silk of the Year under Tax.
