Essex Court Chambers sweeps up at Chambers Bar Awards

23 September, 2005

Essex Court Chambers won “Chambers of the Year” at last
night’s Chambers Bar Awards held at the Dorchester, Park Lane and run by
Chambers and Partners, the specialist legal publishers and recruiters.

But the top award was not the only prize that this commercial set and its members
won.  Wiping the board in the class of International Arbitration,
Essex Court Chambers went home with all three of the category’s awards: Set,
Silk and Junior. Johnny Veeder QC picked up the Silk award and Toby Landau took
the prize from Samuel Wordsworth for the Junior
accolade.

Essex Court Chambers and its members were also nominated under the categories
of Commercial Litigation and Insurance.

Under Commercial Litigation, the set was short listed along with Gordon
Pollock QC for Silk.  However it was in the Junior nominations where all
three candidates were members of Essex Court Chambers with David Foxton winning the prize from other nominees, Paul Stanley and John Lockey.

The set had an equally impressive presence in the Insurance category
with the set being nominated and David Foxton and John Lockey competing for the
Junior award.  This time John Lockey won the Junior award.

In all Essex Court Chambers and its members picked up six awards which was more
than any other set of chambers.  Full details of the award and the winners
are available from Chambers and partners website www.chambersandpartners.com
